We meet in a quiet cafe two streets from the studio, an hour before soundcheck. The table is covered in setlists with songs crossed out and rewritten in three colours of ink.
The new record took longer than planned. Half of it was written on the road, in hotel rooms and the back of the van, and half in a single fortnight at home.
On the road
The conversation keeps coming back to one idea: keeping things simple. Fewer overdubs, fewer tracks, more songs played live in one room.
We wanted it to sound like the room we made it in, not like a studio pretending to be a room.

Touring has changed too. Shorter runs, more days off, and a rule that nobody reads the comments on release day.
By the time the coffee is finished, tonight’s setlist has been rewritten again. The opener is now a song nobody has heard yet.
