Kelly Padrick’s new 2026 EP, Butterflies, is a nostalgic, empowering, and emotionally vulnerable five-track project produced by Marc Copely. The release marks the latest addition to a catalog that already includes seven full-length albums and four EPs from the American indie pop singer-songwriter.
Padrick, who is originally from Providence, Rhode Island, and now based in New York City, has been writing music since she was five years old. Her sound blends pop, folk, new wave, and surf-pop, and her album catalog includes her 2005 debut, Haze, along with Carmine Street (2007), Hello My Love (2010), Soulmate (2011), Dear Love (2014), and It’s Only Me (2016). She has also released EPs including The Brooklyn Hours and Fires.
Much of Padrick’s songwriting has been shaped through her partnership with Nancy Hess, who became her long-term writing partner after the two began collaborating in 2006.
Butterflies arrives alongside other new activity for Padrick: she will film a new video for her song “Shine” with director Patricia Chica in January 2027 in Montreal. Chica has directed 11 of Padrick’s music videos to date, including the award-winning “Heavenly Ride” and “Waiting For This.”
Padrick’s music has previously been featured on screen as well — her song “Pizza and Fairytales” appeared in the Fox Searchlight film Trust the Man, “Ties That Bind” and “The Brooklyn Hours” were used by ABC in promotional commercials for Desperate Housewives, and “Believing Makes it So” and “Consciousness” were featured on HBO’s VICE. Her music has also appeared on MTV’s Big Tips Texas. With Butterflies, Padrick adds a new country-pop-leaning chapter to that catalog.
